“Long Shot” takes an old school premise and somehow makes it feel fresh and original. I had a lot of fun with this movie. It is consistently funny, very sweet, and has some really sharp commentary. I think the foundation of any good romance story is the chemistry between the leads, and surprisingly, Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron have very solid chemistry in this movie. They are a fun pair and it’s a couple I ended up rooting for. The movie hits a few predictable notes, but it is so much fun. The political and social commentary is very intelligent in this movie and never feels one-sided, but it has messages that call for unity and address a very divided modern day America head-on. This was a very solid romantic comedy that is a lot of fun that also makes a lot of intelligent and relevant points.
